Rubbery plastic under the wheel arches

This is the first time I've posted on here, really hope someone can help me with this little annoyance on an otherwise amazing car!

Around the edge of the wheel arches there is a kind of rubbery plastic which I assume is to keep mud and water out of the body of the car. It's a kind of wheel arch inner lining I guess. The problem I have is that it used to sit snugly against the underside of the wheel arch panel but has not started to come away from the bodywork in places. It looks like the sort of material that might respond to a blast with the hairdryer to help me mould it back into position. Any thoughts or experience of this before I head outside with my wife's hairdryer? Smile

Cheers
Grant

i believe its there to protect the arch edge from stone chips, but whilst doing that they become crud catchers

try taking off, cleaning the arch and strip and then replace, if not, I recall they are not vast amounts of money to replace with new

Sounds like the wheel arch protectors to me too. They tend to get water build up inside of the rubber which causes them to come away from the arch. You can faff with them to to make them fit/look better, but I replaced the lot and they look a lot better.

The part number for the front protectors is CLB500051. They are about £5 each ISTR.

They are easy to slide off and replace unless you have mud flaps fitted (front). The screws on mine were a nightmare to get off.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi ronniet101

If you copy paste part number put into google Brit car parts have picture of it.

It is actually a 300mm - 400mm u shaped rubber strip with steel inner pushed onto wheel arch. Its not the complete plastis inner wing. Just looked at mine easier to fix than I thought.

Panda Thumbs Up
