Site Suggestion

Would it be possible to have some control around for sale adds?

I've noticed of late a lot of crazy priced Range Rover Sports popping up in the for sale section of the site and with each, a number of comments in regards to the prices. Its a sellers given right to price his car as he see's fit but some of the comments in these threads are rather underhand in my opinion and in most cases came from people who have zero interest in purchasing.

I agree if a sellers description is inaccurate then it is beneficial to bring that to the attention of the community in a CONSTRUCTIVE manner. However I have myself been on the receiving hand of "experts" opinion on another forum regards the pricing of my car which incidentally was unwarranted as it had been priced in accordance with the market at the time, but this affected the ability to sell and to be honest put me off the forum completely.

Happy to be told to shut up if im off the mark here Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Pea, i think the best way for this to work, is if it can be done some how, fill out a for sale or wanted advert, post it, but it is posted to martin only, then when he has vetted it he can then post it back up on the forum with details of advert and contact details only and don't offer the abilty for forum members to reply on the forum, that way it will stop all the comments you are on about, then if the item gets sold the seller can then get back intouch with martin to let him know its sold, then give a donation to the site, Thumbs Up Sorry martin, i'm sure you have enough to do running the site without more work, you could give it to VA to do i guess Laughing

The best way is for the seller to monitor the comments and if they are not helpful alert either myself or Martin using the red triangle - report post icon. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HST Java Black

On the CSL site I moderate on, we set up a members scheme , i.e you make a donation to the site, and that gets, for those who donate to the upkeep of the site, access to a members only area,( members signature on the avatar ) and in addition only members can post for sale items.

It stops the free loaders who lurk and don't post or participate but want to use the site just to sell things .. usually on there first post ! Generally these are also the ones making random comments, hence most would never contribute, so keeps the site geared more towards those who have.

Forums are difficult to manage, but this worked well when we introduced it, plus in addition it helps raise some monies for the site so all round everyone wins RRS S/C, Factory Fitted Full HST kit, 22" Overfinch SS, Carbon Vents & Grill .. - FOR SALE - PM me for details

There are FS rules in place which forbid registering solely to sell - although please help by reporting those who can't read and break these rules.

Similarly, please report any unhelpful comments in FS threads, both so action can be taken and monitoring done to see if there is a longer term problem. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
