Wow, I would like to have that!
Would a diesel sound like that as well? Or does it have to be a petrol car to have this effect?

Tim, not sure about a diesel, I suspect that a system could be designed to make a diesel sound nicer, I had a sport sc past me when I was walking beside a road the other day and it did sound fantastic.
At the weekend I also sat in and started (but could not drive Crying or Very sad ) a Bentley Continental GT which is a V12, it also has an exaust valve which bypasses the rear box at startup to give a lovely rich rumble to the exaust, after about 30secs it closes and goes into quiet mode. If it sences that your driving is "sprited" however it opens again for a more racey sound. By the way it is also 4wd and has adjustable air suspension!
RR Sport or Bentley Continental GT? hummmmm

Dave, now that wouldn't be that difficlult a decision really would it? When I was at the LRM Show at Gaydon in May I was amazed how many Conti's I saw on the M40 and A34........... far too common infact. But a lovely car.
My younger brother has just taken a delivery of an AM DB9................ no 4wd and a cracking exhaust note ........... now I WOULD sell the RRS if I could afford a DB9, or even the new smaller one.

My Sport has a lot of AM input into the developement Tim, but when you think about it they are both fancy Fords! As are Lincolns, Jaguars, Astons and Volvos.
When LR develope a new car all the divisions of the PAG get to advise on specific areas - Volvo do the safety stuff, Jaguar the engines and gearboxes, AM do the quality and interior design and LR do the transmissions and 4x4 specific stuff. It's the same when Jaguar, Volvo, AM or Lincoln are developing a new model - LR is bought in to advice on the bits it is best at.
LR and AM also share production and design facilities at Gaydon near Wrawick in England.
BTW if you ever come over here for a holiday you should make a trip to the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon
http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/
It is a good 2-3 hours out and the LR/AM design facility is in the grounds too.
It is also about 1 hour drive up to Solihull to visit the LR factory too.

Tim,
yes you are compleatly right, the Aston is much the prettier car and has much more "character", a LR trate. I must admit to being seduced by the engineering of the Bentley though.
