Uprated steering rack

Spoke to my local dealer re whether my RRS has the uprated steering rack/damper to take 20's.

Gave him the chassis no. and the first thing he confirmed is that it is a 2006 production Thumbs Up

He also said that chassis no. is not a difinitive way of checking. The only sure fire way is to take it down and let them have a quick look.

If they can do this, what should I be looking for and maybe I can identify it myself!

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

ST, check out 6th message and diagrams on this thread:

http://rrsport.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=264

If it is still not clear, antics22 posted a couple of useful photos (of damped vs non-damped steering gear) on his site rrstips.com:

http://www.rrstips.com/steering.php

FWIW, I have a non-damped steering rack and have been running 21" aftermarket wheels (from Cargraphic) without any problems or strange vibrations / drift whatsoever. I know at least another member on rangerovers.net who did the same thing with 22" Overfinch Tigers. We never had vibration issues with the stock 19" to begin with, and chose our larger wheels carefully from high quality manufacturers...
