Logic 7

Does anyone know if it is possible to retro-fit Logic 7 to a HSE spec car that didn't have Logic 7 factory fitted?
I know there are some extra speakers in the rear roof lining, but apart from that, everything else appears to be the same. Is there a possibility that the Logic 7 bit is simply a software upgrade ?
I had a loan D3 that had L7 and it sounded noticably better than the standard "Premium" kit in my RRS. Crying or Very sad

I doubt it, Paul. I'm no AV buff, but I expect the extra processing to perform all the 5.1/7.1 trickery is in hardware as opposed to software. I'm sure someone can give a much more comprehensive answer.

Paul, I think there is also something like double the number of speakers, not just a couple in the headlining.

I agree though, I find the sound a bit tinny despite turning up the bass and down on the treble.

Works well though on good bassy sounds but you're not always playing these so............ 06 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony, PTI, Running Boards, Privacy, S/C Grille/Vents, Stormers, Tasmods, Black Badge Soon...

Sorry Paul, can't see L/R sticking in a better head unit for free that can be upgraded with software. Have you asked the dealer yet? MY08 RRS TDV8 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony and Zabrano, sunroof, hybrid tv, premium ICE, rear E diff, privacy glass, side steps, mud flaps, S/Grey mirror covers, Venture shield, tasmods, smoked indicators, Larini sports exhaust, etc, etc.

The head unit is the same. The amplifier is different. (As is the infotainment system software. If you have the "wrong" software installed, it sounds like total garbage.) The Logic 7 processing is done in the amplifier.

Personally, I think Logic 7 processing sounds poor and I leave it off most of the time.

In which case grommet, I'll gladly take your Logic 7 amp off your hands Very Happy

Where is the amp and could it be swapped out for the Logic 7 unit ?

Although I've got Logic 7.....the sound with it switched out, is far better. I have had the software "updated" (the amp is under the drivers seat) 3 times, all without success. LR are aware of the problem, but don't seem to have a working answer. The problem doesn't affect all cars with it fitted, but quite a few.

Save your money.....get your get chipped, that really makes a difference!

I have Logic 7 fitted and it really sounds the mutts nuts!

There is an option to turn it off (just after the sub woofer settings screen) and I hate the sound it makes when its switched off.

Maybe I was just lucky and got a good one!

I know that Angels RRS was behind mine on the production line so the odds are he's got a duff one!! If you drive it - it will rattle, clunk and knock (for what seems to be no reason whatsoever) !

If you are thinking of buying a RR Sport, read this forum very carefully first !

To put it in perspective, if you have a duff Logic 7............its a relief to switch it off and listen to the standard setting. If its bad, its really awful. They’ve changed the amp twice, re-loaded the software three time. Maybe if I went to church........?

For me, I don't like the Logic 7 processing effect on most content. It isn't defective... it even sounds about the same on RRS and LR3. I just don't like it. (I'm sure some may.)

So, for the people that think they have a defective Logic 7 stereo... Have you been in an identical Logic 7 equipped RRS or LR3 that sounds good to you? (Same bass/treble/sub/balance/fader settings, etc.)

I had Logic 7 in my BMW 645 which sounded wonderful, that's the reason I specified it. Driven in other RRS's that work just fine......one problem is the programming, each time its re-done, everything changes, but after a few days the improvements just melt away like.....er, sorry, just having a a senior moment. Anyway, its obviously a software problem, but no trace of getting the right answer - yet!
