United Arab Emirates 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

So 2 days ago my battery was dead, couldnt even jump start it, this was only 10 months old. I got a new battery from the local dealers (Varta 800amp but badged Land rover) installed it and it started a treat.

Took the old battery back to the dealers today to get my money back thinking this would be covered on the manufacturers warranty and guess what they said ... because i changed the battery and not them its no longer covered Censored wtf????

I give up with LR dealers Big Cry

2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

I fitted a Varta SILVER dynamic (610 402 092 3162) to my TDV6. Direct fit, no messing. Not cheap, but huge crank power and cold start performance 110Ah!! Worth every penny. Left at the airport for three months and it fired up first time when I returned and turned the key. Check out their www, you can search by car model.

As for changing over, I heard lots of stories about screwing up the data and getting error codes, so to be sure I just attached the new battery before removing the old one (small set of long handmade jump leads connected between the old battery clamps and the old battery terminals. Then you can lift off the clamps, but the power remains connected via the jump leads. Remove old battery from tray and stand on ground with jump leads still attached. Then put new battery into tray and fit clamps onto the new battery, remove jump leads. Job done. Not a problem to have both connected in parallel)

Have fun.

Ive noticed today that the connections on my genuine LR battery seem very specific, theres a steel connection plate type thing for the + terminal for example whereas normal battery terminals are just 2 connection stubs, does this matter when replacing the battery?.

I plan to go with a Varta unit.

Forgot to ask, when the battery is changed on the RRS do any memory functions etc need to be reset or is it all ok ?

Which connection comes off first, positive or negative and do I reconnect the opposite way ?

Any tips welcome, such as leaving the car 5 minutes to completely shut down for example
You lose some settings eg. clock, seats, mirrors but at least the memory points on the sat nav are retained Smile Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

What about the different appearance of the connections, does that matter?

Carl, take another look at your battery. You should find the battery has two standard posts, one for +ve, the other for -ve (or ground). The +ve post is at the front of the car and has a metal multi-way connector head. This is part of the battery power distribution cable and should not need replacing with the battery.

Have a look at my gallery pictures for a better view of my battery connectors.

If you have anything different it would be great for you to post a photo so we can understand your question better?

Simon

Hi Simon

I have viewed your gallery and thats how mine looks also, i am concerned that this will simply sway over and attach onto a new battery?. I guess it must?

The Varta Silver Dynamic was out of stock so I got the Varta Blue Dynamic, 95ah 800amp

I understand the ah is slightly higher than the standard 90ah, however there is 150amps missing generally....
Surely that's going to be a problem??

Varta Battery

The 150 amp less than the 950amp on original battery is the cold cranking power. It gives more of a kick when starting, without knocking out the battery. I put a Varta Silver H3 Battery on mine 100 amp 830amp Cold Cranking.5 Year Warranty .Have not had any problems itisme
