sounds more reliable than M'Bros air system which was difficult to maintain at pressurised length and I have removed same. Does the fixed system allow selection of variable ride heights or does this commit you to a set height. Are they commercially available or custom manufactured......if so, what is the ideal fixed length.

I have also progressed re wheel fitment and am leaning towards the 285/60/18LTZ. This is 15mm less in diam than the bighorn and should clear all obstructions in the wheel well (just) unless you have experience that says otherwise, and the extra 30mm tread width and and 30mm extra wall height would be most beneficial in sand esp when towing a camper trailer. Can you give me a lead on the manufacture of the 18" rims. Dynamic can supply the rims in 8" but Eastern tell me they do not currently have a centre that works for clearance on the MY10 brakes........am still considering going back to an MY09 RRS if I can't make the 18" wheel conversion work for the MY10 D4.

cheers.............frank............thanks for the advice

PM me your email and I'll send you details of the rods and rims.

At full lock, the LTZ's will rub on the chassis bar protrusion at the rear of the front wheel wells. You can of course, slightly reduce the lock so that they don't contact.

Cheers,

Some good news for 3.0 ltr owners who want off-road rims.

I've been in negotiations with Compomotive (the people who make the alloy rims for the Bowler Dakar rally cars) for the past 6 weeks and I must say they've been very responsive. I've been sending them designs, measurements and photos from combining my (slightly illegal) steel 18" rims with their standard PD1880 and they have been sending me several prototype rims to try on the car.

I can now say that we have arrived at a design that fits - I have one of the prototypes here in my shed! Compomotive will offer a short production run to produce the rims. So the details are:

* Forged alloy 18x8 rim, to fit ALL D3, D4 and RRS diesels
* High capacity load rating ( greater than 1050kg)
* +43mm offset (10mm further out than the std LR rim)
* Std silver/grey Compomotive colouring and badging

Compomotive will handle sales in the UK. If you're interested in a set, please PM me and I'll send you details of the Compomotive contact.

Cheers,

Great effort Gordon.. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I'm not intrested in a set, but am curious if these wheel will fit Pre MY10 SC and TDV8 (Brembos) and also MY10 onwards SC and TDV8... Also what about the MY07 FFRR with brembos?

Don't know about the FFRR, but the older V8's and SC's should be fine - the caliper size was smaller than the new TDV6.
