The lease on my 07 TDV8 is up in about 6 months so I have started looking at the 2011 model and have been told that the TDV8 won't be offered. So it now comes down to the new V8 petrol or the TDV6. Has any one else updated from the TV8 if so what to?

I went the other way, from the 3.0 TDV6 to one of the last TDV8's. The new TDV6 is now very close to the TDV8 and has much better response off the line than the V8. It does however lack the mid range grunt and doesn't sound as good. Try one buy remember if its brand new the engine does loosen up quite a bit after a few thousand miles. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award
