Are your Front Fog Lights working + Access to Interior Fuses

I found that my front fog lights weren't working, the 15amp fuse had blown.

The dealer tells me that it is quite common due to wiring insulation chaffing through behind the bumper and shorting out the system.

This was the first time I had looked at the fusebox behind the passenger glove box and I was suprised to find that I cannot get at some of the fuses or the spares due to them being blocked by the two large cable bundles (to the left of the picture below).

Are these cable runs normal and if so how do you get the fuses hidden behind them out - my interior mirror isn't dipping and I need to check fuse 69 which is really inacessible.

Don't even attempt to replace the Front Fogs Fuse! (or many of the others for that matter) Unless you have hands the size of a small baby or African pigmy Mr. Green I had exactly the same problem and after lacerating the back of my hands and dropping the fuse replacement tool inside the bl Censored dy dash assembly whilst trying to access the spares Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes I gave up and got my dealer to do it! I lost the spare fuses getting them out IIRC - better off buying spares from Halfrauds and keeping them in the glove box - fitting them is a right PITA Laughing

The easiest way to get to the fuses is a pair of long needle nosed pliers...gently grab the fuse and pull as straight back as you can, the fuses come out very easily. You can also use them to put the fuses back, line it up and gently push in.

Highly recommend keeping a couple of each Amp fuse in th glove box, as spares... PJPR

IIRC the red plastic 'tool' centre top of your pic is for removing and replacing the fuses Laughing

that is true, but I find it's also difficult to use in tight spots...so the pliers give you quite a bit of added reach and keep your knuckles from getting rapped in there...give it a shot. PJPR

Good advice and when the the warranty runs out that's the route I will go but I think I will let the dealer drop fuses in there for now. Anyone had their dipping mirror fail to dip? - may not be the fuse at all.

i suspect a blown fuse for the rear screen heater.

how do i get access to the passenger side fusebox? The manual says something about opening the glovebox and squeezing the stanchions. What's the stanchions? Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
