Nearside (UK cars!) bonnet catch not engaging properly

Guys I have noticed a lot of RRS's driving round recently with the near side bonnet catch not properly engaged.
Sign from behind the wheel is the left front edge of the bonnet (looking from inside the car) "fluttering" and lifting at speeds over 50ish and when going over bumps. It seems that LR have returned to fitting poorly adjusted bonnet catches as I wrote to Autocar about this when I first had my TDv6 and they had been road testing their S/C at high speed on the 'ring and had the bonnet lift at 100+mph.
The dealer needs to adjust the catch but in the mean time to avoid a visit to the workshop outwith a normal service then you must SLAM the bonnet shut quite hard. Embarassed Embarassed it happened to me last week - had done the weekly underbonnet checks and obviously had not slammed the bonnet down hard enough as I had to pull over onto the hard shoulder of the motorway to lean heavily on the nearside corner until it had clicked shut.

FYI, the bonnet shouldn't fly open at speed even if it isn't fully down - it will still be held on the safety catch, but it is unnerving for the front seat passenger to see their side of the bonnet lifting 2-3cms in the breeze! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've noticed a lot of RRS with the flappy bonnet - I closed them on 3 RRS's parked at Gleneagles Hotel on Tuesday. Hope I wasn't picked up on the hotel's CCTV! At least my car was still there after my 3hours and £60 for 3 for afternoon tea! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Used to happen to mine a lot - the bonnet never seemed to close "flat" leading to a lot of pushing and shoving to get the damn thing latched Rolling Eyes

The only way to close it fully and know it's fully closed is to appear to being cruel to it and slam it hard................................ 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have had the same problem but I seemed to of found the solution!

Close the bonnet slowly and ensure that the nearside catch (the dodgy one!) latches first and the push in the center.

Hey presto! Both are secure!!!

Had the same thing with mine and had to slam the bonnet hard to close it.

Then I found that the operating lever in the passenger footwell wasn't returning to it's 'home' position when released. I've got into the habit of checking it when the bonnet won't close properly and pushing it back into it's closed position.

This seems to have solved the problem - - - for now! Cheers

Had this happen with mine yesterday driving up the M5. Thought I was seeing things at first.

Took a very hard slam to get it to shut properly.
