Guava LR (Guildford)

Just a quick post to say what a cracking service I (and my RRS) received from both Will and Tim yesterday.

On the recommendation from VA (Many thanks VA Thumbs Up ) I opted to try these guys for my car's 30K service and can only say what a pleasure it was to deal with them.

They couldn't have been more helpful and Tim (workshop manager) happily got the car straight up onto the ramps and spent 20 mins underneath it with me answering all my daft questions and showing me the various bits and pieces that I was interested in.

They changed over a set of new wheels that I'd bought from ebay (OEM 20"s) without charge during the service and Will even threw in a LR keyring that I looked at when I went to collect the car.

In summary, extremely helpful, knowlegdeable and accomodating....plus they gave a very generous discount on parts and labour that resulted in a bill approx £200 cheaper than I would have paid from my 'local' dealer....marvellous!

Will definitely be taking my car back there in the future.

Thumbs Up JT

Supacat,

My understanding (and I'm sure VA will correct me if I'm wrong here) is that Guava LR are 100% official LR, just that their business model is exporting vehicles/parts etc to dealers in foreign, far flung countries (and helping the delaerships set up in the 1st instance) and they are not allowed to sell any LR vehicles within the UK as part of their agreement with LR.

Their service dept is however superb and completely 'main dealer' in every respect. In their 'showroom' they had some serious looking defenders that were about to be shipped out to dealerships.

So, yes all warranty issues etc dealt with as normal.

Hope this help. Thumbs Up

Agreed - have dealt with them on a number of occasions myself and service and costs are excellent. Don't think much of their loan cars though - last time it was some old W reg Rover 45 Embarassed

My TDV6 is with Guava at the minute, following VA's recommendation.

Its having its 2 yr service (a little late Embarassed ) done, and cost is £390 incl VAT - thats with the forum discount Very Happy I was quoted £550 by Hadley Green LR Shocked Twisted Evil

They've also replaced the pass wing mirror motor which was creaking and the rear pass dr lock which was sticking intermittently.

They found a slight leak from the front diff, so a new diff is going in today as LR dont sell the dif seals on their own Shocked Apparently LR are not convinced all dealers can replace the existing diffs correctly, so they only stock complete new units !!!

And then theres the infamous knocking front suspension ! This wasnt evident on mine at the first service, and as I hadnt got round to getting it looked at until now, LR are quite interested in it as a 'virgin knocker' that nobody has attempted to resolve Laughing So, under LR's request, they're putting in new anti roll bar bushes and replacing 2 lower front arms today. They'll see if that resolves the issue, and if not they'll go on to replace the next part on LR's list and so on. LR are keen to see at which point it resolves.

In the meantime I get to keep the Rover 25 Streetwise courtesy "car" Laughing

Cheers

Tony

I suppose you can't complain when you get such a good service from them - last time I was in there the guy said that not running an expensive courtesy pool is one of the reasons they can keep costs down (obviously). That explanation was prompted when he saw the look on my face as he pointed out the doors to the which car I was taking away Laughing

So Guava have just delivered the RRS back (and reclaimed 'the stinker' ).

The service was all carried out, and under warranty they replaced the pass mirror (creaked when folding), replaced the pass rr door lock (stuck intermittantly), replaced the front diff ( as it was leaking Shocked ). They also replaced the lower suspension arms including ball joints, and replaced the active anti roll bar units, and that has cured the knocking noise on the front completely ! Its lovely and quiet to drive now Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Lets hope it lasts.

Excellent service throughout - they kept me informed what was going on with daily phone calls, they were 25% cheaper than the other dealers I rang, the car came back fully valeted, and they even gave me a courtesy car Wink

Just another Thumbs Up for Guava Very Happy

They did the MOT on the RRS this morning (it passed Very Happy ) in about an hour. £48 for the MOT and a valet, plus a nice cuppa too - bargain !

The hour wait was occupied with viewings of the MY2010 RRS, FFRR and Disco all demonstrated to me by Will, and very nice they are too - particularly liked the 2010 Black Supercharged RRS Cool Also had a tour of the workshops and had a look around an armourplated FFRR, all 4.5 tonnes of it !
