Correct oil grade

Can anyone confirm which is the correct Castrol oil to top up the TDV6?

The manual says to use 5W-30, but the GTD Magnatec is 5W-40 or 10w-40.

I checked on the Castrol website, but depite listing the RRS TDV6 it does not then give a reccommendation.

Any advise would be appreciated. RRS 2.7 TDV6 SE Cairns Blue/Alpaca Leather

I went to Halfords to get some oil for my TDV6. The only Castrol 5W-30 was the 'petrol' version Magnetec - which I used. Matt

the correct oil is castrol 5w / 30 w magnatex semi synthetic.
look in your tool box under load space, you should find a complitary Land Rover ltr of oil, in a nice zip bag container.
Hope that you do not need oil already !!!!!11
enjoy the drive

I didn't get any free oil or even a zipped bag!
Yes, our's needed nearly a litre of oil at 3,500 miles.
I wasn't too woried as my VW 5-cyl 174ps diesel has used nearly 3 litres of oil already and it's only done 12,500 miles - first oil change not due until 20,000 miles. Matt

Thanks for the advice, I have just been and bought some Magnatec 5W-30.

I've checked and I haven't any free oil either! RRS 2.7 TDV6 SE Cairns Blue/Alpaca Leather

What about the Petrol Supercharged?

I have read the owner's manual online, but if anyone who has this car already is reading, what oil did you get with your car or at least recommended?

I have 3 gallons of Castrol GTX Magnatec in the garage but I reckon it will be the wrong viscosity as it is 10w40.

Can anyone confirm?
