Land Rover Insurance renewal questions

I have just renewed renewed my policy with Land Rover Insurance over the phone and apart from a computer crash while trying to take my credit card number (they called me back when the system was re-instated to complete the transaction) I was asked some questions I have not been asked before:

Did I own or regularly drive any other vehicles?
How many vehicles are owned by the household?

I have never been asked these questions before when renewing and this has got me thinking why?
Could it be that my honesty is being doubted?
Had I answered No to the ownership of another car which they also insure would they put a black mark against my name? I do have another car and it is insured by LRI as well - surely this would show on my records with LRI?

How many other vehicles in the house hold? - If there were of what significance is this to Land Rover Insurance who only insure Land Rover products? LRI are part of Royal and Sun Alliance so are they touting for business for other parts of the RSA Empire?

Now that my Certificate of Insurance has come in I see that the answers to both questions are listed on the schedule that accompanies the Certificate.................................. BIG BROTHER is watching us again! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I think they're standard insurance questions Tim, I'm sure I've always been asked those.

I'd always presumed they were risk assessment questions - i.e. if you have another car in the household, is it feasible they wouldn't need to supply a hire car if yours was off the road (thus incurring cost)...

As Shmoogle says, I've always been asked those questions too, When I first insured the Scooby, I told them I had other cars it brought my premium down a little. Not much diffrence in insurance between the Scooby and the RRS as it happens. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Just looked at the documents for the last 3 years policies from LRI and the questions are mentioned on the schedules like they are this year. It doesn't really bother me, although I asked about why does RSA alllow "fleets" of 2 or more cars on some of their policies but not on the LRI scheme - I'm still waiting for a response from them as it would be more convenient for me to have both cars on the same policy.
BTW it was suggested that I contact NFU for a quote - I applied online and called their local rep direct and have never had any response - they must have too much business or they don't want mine, too late now. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think VA said he has used NFU in the past - and if they'll insure him they'll insure anyone Wink
