United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Zambezi Silver

Don't have the diesel option here (yet), but I'm very happy with the 4.4 HSE. May not be as quick from dead stop as my X5, but it when it's moving it really has a lot of "git up and go" available on demand. After 13,000 miles of mostly highway driving I'm getting 17.4 mpg (American) which is not too bad, but way behing the X5 3.0 which is returning 22.1 mpg over 34,000 miles. 2011 BMW X3 35i Carbon Black
2006 RRS HSE 4.4, Zambezi Silver
Swiftly and with style!!!

I just have to say that I really don't understand all this talk about performance, I drive a TDV6 Disco and this is plenty fast enough......I can't see any need for more performance than the TDV6 currently offers.

Before you call me boring - I am under 30, into my sportscars and will be upgrading to a RRS soon!! Very Happy

Canada 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Rimini Red

I am just waiting for delivery of my RRS HSE.
I noticed a lot of talk about MPG.
In the RRS HSE brochure they states that it should get 16 mpg city and 25 mpg hwy.
I can only assume they are out to lunch as I am driving an LR3 now and it does not get the mileage it is suppose to get either.
Good advertising but false info.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

There is a 4.0litre V6 petrol engine available over the other side of the pond, but it was only launched in the 3rd quarter of 2005 if I remember correctly. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I've had an epiphany Exclamation

(See post NOW I'm impressed)

That TDV6 doesn't need an jiggery pokery as far as I'm concerned.

It's just driven me & Mrs S.T all over the lake district for the weekend and pulled like an absolute steam train Very Happy

One friend even commented "What? This is a diesel? Doesn't sound like on!"

England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the TDV6's performance even less when chipped. I also drive a GT3 which is good for 190 & will 0-60 in just over 4secs. The RRS gets me to work in about the same time, in more comfort & more relaxed.

To be honest if performance is a real issue you are in the wrong car. i've just specced up a Cayenne S which has superior on-road performance to even the S/C & it will cost less, around 54k paying for the options I need!!

The RRS performance is good enough but not the best. HSE TD6 (Java Black/Ivory)
911GT3 (Guards Red, carbon interior)
ElanSE (BRG)
Panamera Turbo S
Boxster S

If you want a wee bit more power then the LRE at dunkeld have a 4.4Supercharged that somehow managed to escape from the Gaydon test centre! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The Jaguar Supercharged engine is capable of far more than is on offer to LR customers. But the RRS has been designed to do far more than just blast up and down motorways! I remember reading elswhere on this forum of how LR in the early stages of developement couldnt understand why all four tyres were flat each morning after a full day testing - it was due to the power of the engine driving the wheels which had so much grip due to LR technology that the actual alloy wheel would spin/move in the tyre & thus break the seal around the rim, gradually deflating overnight.

Take away the LR technology & your left with a great looking car that would be capable of Porsche beating performance times & probably cost a lot less. But you dont buy a LR for that Wink
