Abingdon 4x4 Offroad

To those that never offroad attached a picture of my RRS after a trip round the off road course.

We tackled the difficult course, with the electrics getting us through, when even some 90's were being towed out - the final mud run Very Happy

Sorry no pictures in action, no damage sustained though.

On saturday a standard 06 Java Black went round the sensible course. Smile

Its good to see them out playing, unless you take them off road - its best to use a land rover experience vehicle not your own - you cannot know how capable they are.

Fabulous Thumbs Up

Recently on a trip into the Wombat Forest I entered a very long bog hole that was deeper in water than I had expected (my lack of experience showing here Embarassed ) and just as I thought I was about to become bogged the computer wizardry sent the RRS into super extended mode - the car gained traction and powered me safely all the way through to the end Very Happy

The series 2 Disco following me obviously didn't have terrain response or extended suspension modes.... He got stuck and the water was into his cabin. He was so stuck that snatching him out failed and he had to be winched! Whistle

PJB - Great car, but the photo does look pink; maybe it's just the way the sunlight reflects from it Whistle

Assuming yours is one of the genuine G4's used on the expedition, can you describe any differences between it and the 'normal' RRS if any?

Also I am keen to get hold of a genuine G4 roofrack - with lights - can you describe hows the lights are fitted and wired into the car by LR?

Thanks!

pjb - that'll be mine then. Looks like i was not as adventurous as you although I did some extreme bits but left the mud run to others.

No damage other that a bruise to one of the door skirts and wheel scratches.

This was my first off-road excursion in this car and I was amazed at its capability on standard road tyres. You arrive in complete comfort having cruised up the A34 at 70mph Whistle, press a few buttons and away you go. Incredible! I would recommend this to anyone....just be prepared to accept some light damage and a lot of cleaning.

I have uploaded some pictures http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=11696

Hi All,

It was orange, just a very sunny day & only took the photo on my phone.

Joka,

It was great seeing you go round, as for the cleaning, it got jet washed before I left the course, spent a hour jet washing when I got home, and its since been steam cleaned underneath.

Yes I got scratches to the wheels, and the passenger door protector was knocked loose.

Sadly filled the alternator with mud that failed a week later !
