Italy 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
TDV8 engine sound

Hello to everybody,
my name is Giovanni , I live in Italy and I have Just bought ( about one month ago) a new TDV8 black/black RRS.
I' very happy with this car and since it's my first diesel engine , I have a question and I hope You can help me.
I've noticed that the sound of the engine does change during different moments of the day.
In nighttime transfers, in example, the sound become closer to a petrol v8: a louder and deeper "burble" starts at low RPM,and it's fantastic to listen to!
But it not always sounds this way, usually it's quieter! Is it possible?

Thank You in advance and sorry for my english,
Giovanni

Welcome to the forum Giovanni!

You're right, the TDV8 does have a petrol "burble" Thumbs Up As for it making different noises throughout the day, I don't know... either way it sounds good Very Happy

Could it be to do with different air temperatures through the day?

Someone told me on the golf course that in Summer over here there is less air resistance Vs Winter and so your shots go further.... Rolling Eyes

Could have said that 'cos I beat him on the longest drive and took his €10! Laughing 06 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony, PTI, Running Boards, Privacy, S/C Grille/Vents, Stormers, Tasmods, Black Badge Soon...

Italy 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I solved the "changing" exhaust sound mistery!
It is the regeneration cycle of the DPF that changes the tone of the TDV8,and
It happens about every 500/600 KM .
Salutes,
Giovanni
