It does work but unless you are prepared to do 30,000 miles + per year then you wont see a saving versus running the car on petrol

Yep.. and LR will no longer touch your car in terms of warranty. I'm not even sure they'll service it  

30000 a year is not needed...

12000 miles a year should cover conversion costs in a year at the current price of petrol, then its savings all the way after that.

I'm just looking for a second hand RRS at he moment and its fast becoming the way forward in my eyes...

anyone actually running one on LPG?

Devine, if you search the site for "LPG" you'll find lots of talk about this. And Pelyma's right, JE have stopped performing conversions as they ended up being too problematic... I don't remember why, but it is documented here. 

Ok guys little update on this....

I just got off the phone to JE

They still do conversions on the SC, but it can cause the engine management light to come on from time to time, other than that no issues...

Could some kind sole post the links to the issues on here so i can have a read.

The LPG gas runs hotter than petrol and will cause the lambda probe on the exhaust manifold to operate erratically and that's why the light usually comes on...eventually the probe will fail and it will cost 2 hours labour + parts to fix it

Its not worth it, save the money of the conversion (£3500+VAT) and spend it on the fuel instead, plus you get no engine management issues.

I spoke to JE about this and I don't think it's as simple as a light coming on. I was told of a customer's car that had been back so many times due to this problem that THEY WERE NOT DOING ANY MORE for the time being until a new LPG part was made in Holland and tested. They gave me a 6 month window on that being ready for the UK. Now: Range Rover Vogue TD6, JE Stage 1. (Green!)

Well I've just bought the SC, 3 year old 29k miles first edition, its booked in for conversion 21st July, have driven one the've done and spoken to fitters, runs a treat, really. Now they use Mapped Vaporiers from Prins and alter engine management system. It really does work. sells gaas for .51p ltr. cost £1k less than your reporting, payback 16,000 miles, and thats at current fuel prices not one year from now?

I'll report back soon, big job to install, my P38 took less than 3 days they say 5-6 for SC.

This'll be my third Gas conversion, think its brill. Ps Stafford Land Rover will service, they used to convert LR themselves and still sell gas today.

I do 21K miles per year
at 16 mpg
petrol at 119 p/litre
autogas at 50 p/litre

Savings per year = £3485

This calculator is based on a typical MPG "loss" of 20% on Autogas compared to petrol (the energy in a litre of Autogas is less than in a litre of Petrol.) Please remember that actual savings will depend on the car and its condition, the journey and individual driver's style of driving.

CO2 savings are based on typical CO2 emissions for the petrol consumption entered less 20% as demonstrated in the European Emissions Test Programme.

JE are still doing conversations as stated earlier, looks like their prices have changed recently. The SC is now £3400 inc VAT (used to be £3500 excl VAT).

I spoke to JE, they said there are no issues with the early RRS SC but the newer ones do have some issues to do with later ECU's etc, thus it's a bit more tricky - I guess it depends on the ECU and software versions etc.

Is there anyone on the forum with a JE lpg conversion fitted, I'm considering having their conversion fitted.

I am not denying the fact that on fuel ALONE there is a saving to be made.

But, that saving is only REALISED once the savings in fuel have paid for the actual conversion itself.
If the JE conversion is £3995 inc VAT then you have to calculate how many years worth of your current mileage you need to do before you BREAK EVEN, once that has occurred then yes, you are then SAVING money on fuel, but not before! Now: Range Rover Vogue TD6, JE Stage 1. (Green!)
