Good grief Jay, you were up early this morning...... Censored the bed? Whistle

I have forgotten what a pleasant place to be the FFRR is......and that engine is Censored amazing (albeit without the trademark whine and more shove with the S/C), but its not far off the mark. The sound is incredible for a diesel.

It did make me think (which is always dangerous) of what we missed out on when we purchased the RRS:

The interior - far superior Shocked Rolling Eyes
The seats - better and far more adjustment Shocked
Handling / Ride - far improved from my old L322 from memory - but obviously not as slick as the Sport Razz

I would still have one, but considering the replacement looks likely in 2010/11, thats where the money goes for me. Thumbs Up My Gladiators:

RRS S/C HST - respect of the highest order
Freeloader 2 SE with all the toys - my baby RR
Merc SL55 AMG - Tarmac ripper!

Disco3 - Gone
Defender 90 TD - Gone
FFRR Vogue - Gone
BMW X5 4.4 - Gone
LR Defender 300Tdi - Gone
LR Defender 2.5 PETROL - Gone

Update

The red warrior has returned. Fault was the track rod ends and arms (this time). Has been replaced along with every crevice being packed full of gloopy gunk grease. Confused

It is obvious that LR are not really interested in a permanent fix so long as the sales levels remain high and they keep selling them. It is only when this dissatisfaction starts to affect their profits that they will take it seriously, until then, its just another dealer problem.

I've started to think about what happens when my RRS is out of warranty next year. How much would it cost me to get it fixed if I were paying for it myself? This could be damned expensive over the life of the car.

I suggest that we produce a large sticker for the rear window of our cars worded in such a way that it dissuades those driving behind us to make the mistake of buying one!

We talk of collective action but how many of us are actually prepared to do something about it? If you drive it - it will rattle, clunk and knock (for what seems to be no reason whatsoever) !

If you are thinking of buying a RR Sport, read this forum very carefully first !

I'm not sure about that. My dealer mentioned that LR have just put out a 17 page guide on knocking solutions. So, maybe they are taking it more seriously than we think....... Range Rover Sport SC - Java / Tasmods / Skirts

If I were living in the UK, and i had a knocking problem then I would do the following:

Round up as many RRS sport owners as possible with or without the problem (this shows unity!). Then drive to Solihull and park outside the factory. Put big "broken" plackards on the cars with the problems (maybe even spread some RRSPORT.CO.UK flags around for advertising if the forum allows the association) and then break out a thermos of tea and wait for the media who I would have phoned in advance!! I don't think you'd have to wait long for a response from LR, particularly if you managed to get a few cars along!! 2008 TDV6 WHITE/EBONY

I will be talking (again) to LR this week as mine is knocking again but only needs repairs for the third time!
It will depend largely on what happens when I discuss it with them as to what action I take.

Maybe a poll here would determine if I charge boldly ahead with the Warriors behind me or turn around to find I am alone!

A 17 page guide issued by LR is about restorative rather than preventative action which is what I believe we are seeking.

I will also discuss the 21.7 mpg (TDV6) I have been getting since they "repaired" the brakes in January! BTW, they have squealed ever since when crawling along in traffic too If you drive it - it will rattle, clunk and knock (for what seems to be no reason whatsoever) !

If you are thinking of buying a RR Sport, read this forum very carefully first !
