Don't worry VW I'll have my camera to capture the moment you get stuck, and slip and fall in the mud too Laughing

You might find it's easier to take one of the tuition options and get shown it all as you go around. For me, I prefer to learn by seeing rather than reading, and imho it makes a lot more sense to see it in action Very Happy

I would advise you to go for the tuition option - if you don't the golden rule is 'don't go first!' RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

I am in the tuition group, not sure how it works exactly. I just like to have some basic background reading. You never know what situation you might end up in, and it might just save me a repair bill Wink.

I'm in the tuition group too, I'll follow you and if you get stuck it will be easier to take photos and laugh, Thumbs Up

Saying that means it will be me whose the one who gets stuck and i'll be the one not laughing Embarassed

I beleive its on a follow me leader basis, but we stop and look, discuss the obsticle/hill or lake then proceed but the whole area will be the safest section on the site, then after lunch (read bacon butty from a van) we'll have free do what you want time Confused

my plan is to rely on the V8 torque to get me out of trouble Laughing . So you might end up with a) alot of mud on your screen b) a big hole to go through Laughing

Just read that the terrain respone system automatically adjusts all the traction/range settings when a mode is selected Smile.

If going through water check the spare wheel gromit in the boot is in place. Make sure engine oil is at the correct level. Take the covers off your recovery points and be prepared to damage the front bumper (The little spoilers in front of either wheel on the bumper) These will come off!

Most of all have fun! RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

Yep. It's not all about simply selecting an option based on the ground surface, it has effects on gearchanges, rev limits etc etc. Quite clever really Thumbs Up

OK, Basics for your motor for general off-roading,

1. Select Low Range (gearbox in N)
2. Terrain Response set to Mud-Ruts
3. Use 'Command Shift' rather than Auto, Select 1st for descending hills (HDC on), 2nd for climbing and 2nd or 3rd for general driving
4. If stuck on slippery mud, use 3rd gear and turn off DSC

After that, use your eyes and read the ground, adapting speed etc to suit the conditions, drive as slowly as possible but as fast as necessary to retain momentum. Iain the instructor is great, you will be fine.

Most importantly, enjoy Thumbs Up Andy
