oil change

I want to do my own... I have quite a bit of mechanical knowledge ( I run/maintain my own race car) but are there any tips/ guides on here ? - don't want to make any stupid mistakes that can be avoided.....

oil and filter at the ready.....

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

The Disco3 website has a fully detailed procedure with photos for an oil and filter change on the TDV6 engine. 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

DIY oil change cost:-

Oil Filter (must be LR one whilst in warranty) - £9.49

LR sump plug and seal (not really necessary every time) - £5

6 litres of SAE 5W - 30 oil (must meet Ford Spec WSS-M2C913-B for warranty such as Castrol Magnatec or even better Morris Multivis which is a semi synthetic oil) - £25

Total DIY cost £40

Dealer cost anywhere between £140 and £300 as reported elsewhere on here

30minutes of your own time and the job is done 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

..but where do you get rid of the used engine oil these days ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
Disco 3 TDv6 HSE Tonga
Defender 200tdi, CSW, a mint, red one (can mint be red ?)

I store it in an old 25L drum (I purchase my oil in bulk) and then every couple of years take it to the local council tip where it is sent for recycling. You can buy my old oil at Halfords under their own brand!
