mmm, I posted something similar. I have had it from more or less new. Never had it on the old one!! Charles Hurst are talking to Land Rover about it after one of there Master Techs came for a test drive and heard it.

Please keep me posted on this. Got some miles to do in mine to see what happens but away next weekend with the caravan so that may make it worse sooner rather than later |

I'm not entirely sure on the detail, but I think what you are referring to by 'critical part' is that car manufacturers have to officially report when a car is 'off the road' due to unavailable parts. I experienced this back in the late 90's when I was waiting many weeks for new HT cables for my 96 Esprit S4s.

They need to put the listening device on the casing Wokkaman - in 2 different places. Sometimes its the bearing in the rear of the transmnission case where the transfer box goes on. The transfer case was originally designed by NVG new venture gear in the states but it got sold off to part of Chrysler group and I think it has been sold again since. The biggest problem on the early models was hair line cracks in the casing because the first batch LR sent us to evaluate I looked at. They can develope whining noises but they do not usually fail and let you down just get more noisy as they run more miles.
