EXCEL SHEET RECOVERY - HELP

Urgent Help!!!

Have a client who has accidently deleted a sheet from within a very important excel file - his backup file is over 6 months old and he needs to try to recover the lost sheet

he removed the sheet without realising and then saved the file when closing

any ideas? I've searched for tmp files (found nothing) however wondering if there are any ways of interagating the file system for old versions?

S - help!!!

Thanks

Oh dear. Once you've saved it Excel, not unreasonably, presumes you wanted to do it and clears away the previous autosaves. Sorry mate, but I think that sheet is a gonner without getting forensics in Sad

in my understanding, the new file will actually be saved into a different drive sector - implying the old one will still exist on the drive, although not referenced - correct or wrong?

By forensics I mean a highly skilled IT forensics chap (they usually work for the Police or government agencies) who specialises in recovering metadata from filesystems. Don't tell me the data is THAT important! Shocked

Only was possible is if your firm has an IT department that can run a recovery tape - from the previous night - just saves work on a daily basis and they can run the tape with the excel sheet before the deletion was made....only way forward 2007 RRS TDV6 HSE JAVA/EBONY SIDE STEPS, REAR GUARDS. 22'' STORMER WHEELS. Nick, he said the last backup was 6 months ago Wink

I don't think this will be someone in a company supported by tape backups....

All is not lost!

There are some very good data recovery companies out there that specialise in this stuff. PM me and I'll pass across details. They're not terribly expensive either (as long as you know the name of the file you want back!) _______________________________
