Problems with BT FON wifi hub/hotspot system

Has anybody signed up with BT for this? My father thought is was a brilliant idea so went ahead and downloaded some fancy software from BT but since then they have been having terrible problems with their home hub, even though the people in India have been able to access both of my parents computers remotely and tried to set it up they have failed completely. Yesterday after 7 hours of playing all was up and running........................... but I have just had a phone call to say that this morning my folks are back to square one, and have no internet access via their modem, the laptops are working fine - it's the homehub that keeps failing them. It is brand new and the latest version from BT. Anybody any ideas what the problem might be? A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Those Home Hub/Business Hub devices are more trouble than they're worth in my experience, not that it helps you Confused The one good thing about those bundles is that BT are responsible for the whole shooting match up to and including the Home Hub, so chuck it back to them I suppose.

It's either going to be the ADSL service itself, or config of the Home Hub.. but beyond that it could be all manner of things. Can you swap out the Home Hub with another non-BT supplied router and have it work the same?

S, I have no idea. Unfortunately I cannot get at my own router today as I am waiting for carpetfitters to come and finish off the job they started on Monday and the entire contents of both bedrooms in my house have migrated into the lounge and the router is right at the back of everything! My folks are coming up here to get online later today! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

We had problem with our home hub. One minute it would work then then we would just lose the net.
The eventual fix? New line from pole to junction box. The line ran through a tree and a branch had worn through the insulation on the cable!
An engineer had to come out to find this fault as a line check at the exchange found the line to be to be fine.

Well I've got one of the laptops back online...................................... somehow while on the line to India the technician had reset the network settings and the little checkbox that allows windows to configure the system had been unchecked Thumbs Up

I'm just waiting for a phone call to see if the other laptop is OK when my mother gets back home. Problem with her laptop is that it has Vista on it and I haven't used that before. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.
