I know some have mistakenly put petrol in a diesel but I passed a van today that announces that they will come and drain your tank if you do this - if anyone knows of companies that offer this service please let me know as I feel this will always be an ongoing problem. Drained tank or not, are they then going to fix your entire fuel system if you've let it run on the wrong fuel for a few secs/minutes/miles etc? |

Agreed but if you fill and realise mid fill it might be of use. I want to see what these companies offer - wish I could remember the name on the van! RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

Diesel engines can actually cope with up to 20% petrol and 80% diesel and run fine, so if you fill your RRS with less than 20% petrol (about £100 worth |

But it buggers all the seals and pump, do not just try to dilute it out, it is usually a new engine DS3 TDV6 HSE

I have seen military vehicles filled up on and run with petro and JP8 that were suposed to be diesel, they will run without messing the engine up. As long as they dont make it a routine thing. Do yo guys know how to syphon? that would be the first and best way to fix that problem... |

I also agree with Jonny F diesel engines can cope with petrol because my friend put in about 10l of petrol and then the rest of it diesel which was approx 70l into his almost new BMW X5 3.0d last year(at that time he had approx. 5000km) and the car is still running well after 15000km.

I think that you will find that it isn't possible to syphon fuel out of any modern European car - maybe in the Land flowing with low cost gasoline it's a bit different and fuel is so cheap that it isn't worth stealing it so anti-syphon devices aren't necessary....................... even now that fuel prices have gone through the roof in the US they still are not realistic compared to anything the rest of the western world has to pay. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.
