2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
07 BLACK TDV8

Hi

Looking to sell my TDV8, it is just over a year old first registered 24th March 07, Java Black with Black leather, standard spec plus privacy glass, side steps, Roof Rail system, Black and silver badges all round, Cloth Range Rover matts inside with rubber mat in boot, white indicator lenses. Superguard from new.

Worth about £55,500 new

Just had first service (£420) and 12 months Road Tax (£400 now).

11,500 miles will add photos but its the same as the rest.

Looking for £45,000 with the 12 months tax. I consider to be a steal with the extra bits on.

12 months MOT on a year old car Ian......................................?? It should have another 24 to run..
Take it you mean 12 months Road Fund Tax/ VED? A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

I think the colour might be a problem - too many Java's are available and gives folks too much choice so they can shop on price, and Java is not as popular as it used to be. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Hmm, I'm sure it would sell at that price.... if you can wait for it. Don't forget the mods you've made won't really make the car worth any more Smile

Ian,

If I were to put a similar car on my forecourt I would need to advertise it at £45,995 with a view to taking £45,000 for it. Therefore as a private seller you may do better around the £43,000 mark?

If you get stuck then pop in with it, ask for myself or Matthew (our Showroom Manager) and we will be happy to give you a figure to buy it.

James Thumbs Up

PS - Tim, we registered 31 Sports in March - 1 Rimini Red, 3 White, 3 Silver, 9 Stornoway Grey...... and 15 Java Black Whistle . So almost 50% Black, however white is becoming more and more popular as each month passes!! James Tayler - General Sales Manager - jamestayler@charleshurstgroup.co.uk

James, what's your view on white in terms of resale these days? I know dealers were always a bit wary of selling white as they never wanted to take them back in p/x.

A couple of years ago I would probably not buy one, but now I would treat the value as I would any other 'normal' colour. I would not be surprised if in 12 months or so that there is a premium for white on the used car market over and above black for instance. James Tayler - General Sales Manager - jamestayler@charleshurstgroup.co.uk

James thanks for that, I have been offered £41,500 px but that is a socking amount of depreciation. The question is will the depreciation curve flatten out a bit in two years time?

If it carries on at ths date the car will be worth abot £31k in a years time.

Id say your right! New spec coming out next year...economy crisis and all that jazz plus as James at Charles hurst says 50% of market is Java...market is saturated in 07 plate black TDV6's and 8's,

Why didnt you take that offer Ian? Similar car with exception of sidesteps is on sale by a forum member on ebay at 40.5K with no joy as of yet.

If it simply has to sell your options are accept dealer offer of sub 39K or advertise at 40K ono on piston heads...the longer you leave it the less your going to get im afraid at minus £500 a month depreciation.

I would be intrested to know if others feel that the depreciation on the RS is much more than other cars.

Tius car was circa £55k new 14 months ago and could end up being sold for £39k

Thats 29% depreciation year one. I have owned N=BMW;s befire and bever took a hit like this even witth M cars.

Is this because we as RRS owners are too willing to sell cheap and are makng this problem worse for ourselves?

Is it because the dealers are just selling too low?

My only thought is for peple looking for a one year old car the RRS TDV8 is a bargain at the moment and for those loooking to buy new you must be mad.

They had been performing very well, but have certainly taken a hit in recent weeks. Not sure of any particular reason, other than people are watching their £s a bit more closely at the moment. If I was buying one at the moment, I'd certainly wouldn't be buying new.... but I bet it's not stopping a lot of people.

My personal experience in this is based solely on watching all the websites be it landrover, pistonheads, autotrader and this site daily for a car that best suits me, started looking at the supercharged model for the engine but cost to run put me off, looked at the TDV6 for economy but engine put me off so decided TDV8 was for me but cost to buy put me off due to them only being just over a year old when I started looking.

The cheapest TDV8 i could find anywhere only 6 months ago was upwards of 45K and there was approximately 700 RRS in all guises on sale on the trader...in 6 months we are now talking some 1200. Almost double the amount has to have some effect on sale price! Supply and demand! Plus the fact that a good number are now 3 year old requiring MOT and are out of warranty so they have bombed in price thus giving those with less funds the oportunity to get a bargain RRS. New 09 spec coming thus putting off potential buyers who are in the know off buying a new current model. The biggie being less buyers out there with the confidence to spend or borrow a lump of money in current financial troubles. Everything contriving against the seller at the moment.

Dealers are forcing more and more people to sell theirs private by giving 3-5K under book for part ex...not sure if thats across the board but its what I was told by a local sales man.

Kam is the man top speak to I would say in terms of this as he deals directly in the market I am merely an observer of the situation. I would gladly give a 100 quid over what the stealer offers...its the only way I am likely to get into a TDV8 in the near future for the money I am willing to pay given the mods I intend on making.

Good luck Thumbs Up
