You should give Pangkor Laut in Malaysia a try.....absolutely stunning!

Are the waters around the bungalows crystal clear / blue etc?

I'm afraid not...

A Dutch travelshow went to Pankor Laut a couple of weeks ago:

Then the part about Pankor Laut will start... don't pay attention to the Dutch language Mr. Green

Port Safaga and Hurgadha have overwater bungalows but they are owned by some of the not so good hotel groups, it can also be very windy there in June - why else would 1000's of windsurfers and kitesurfers go there then? Hurgadha is considered to be the Riviera of Egypt................... A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights

OK, how about this:

Bermuda (which I think is decent weather in June), overwater bungalows, clear blue waters, not round the other side of the world. Only trouble is, you might end up disappearing without trace of course...

The Sands At Chale Island - Mombasa, Kenya

Blue water and stilts on some photos, found it by a quick google search so i don't know the quality/review

Though my brother had his honeymoon in the Maldives June/July and was glorious sun for two weeks, but it is a risk at that time of year

NP, the SW monsoon causes a swell that breaks over the reefs of the Maldives and stirs up the water in the lagoons making it less than turquoise and clear and more silty and dirty. Also the SW Monsoon makes it VERY humid even if there are clear blue skies and sunshine. Mind you it will not be as costly as going during the NE Monsoon and you can fly there via Dubai on Emirates out of Glasgow with out going through LHR T5! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

I had simular with the Trade Winds when i did a Kenya Safari and then a beach holiday, the lovely white sands where covered in seaweed and plastic bags

though the hotel had them racking and cleaning the beach first thing each day every day but it wasn't like the photos in the brochure,

We also had some problems during our holiday to Mauritius (february 2007).
Cyclone Gaméde (category 4 cyclone) also wanted to pay Mauritius a visit, so we had to stay inside for 4 days.

Shocked your sure about that Tim. I use to go there quite often, only to pass through and spend the rest of the week under the water, far more scenic than above, last there 3 years ago, it was still a great unfinished building site Laughing and as for taking a taxi, anyone been in a egyptian taxi at night Shocked Rolling with laughter yet another Pommie living in Sydney

Look at the Havufen Fushi resort - they have 2 resorts - one island to themselves with only 6 rooms on it...fantastic but very expensive - £12,000 for the week. I still think Mauritius is better than the Maldives - but the price is a lot worse..... 2007 RRS TDV6 HSE JAVA/EBONY SIDE STEPS, REAR GUARDS. 22'' STORMER WHEELS. FULL COLOUR CODE.
