Defender 90 full offroad spec for sale - with pics !

Finally, at last, after years of watching you guys do clever things with pictures and links, I have finally managed (I think) to buy a digital camera, use it, transfer pictures to my computer, put up a gallery and here it is. In my world, this counts as progress Thumbs Up

As you may have heard I have a Defender 90 which has a very full offroad spec. Pictures are here :
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=10009

LR Defender 300tdi (L reg)
9 months tax & test
Converted by Simon Buck at Devon 4x4 in 2004
Full roll cage
GPS (Garmin and roof mounted receiver)
Hannibal locking Cubby box
Snorkel
Front winch (24v Warn 8274 on Mantec raised winch mount with 11mm plasma rope)
Rear winch (12v Warn 9000 with 9mm wire & new solenoids)
Dan bar on rear steering
Steering guard
CB radio
Rear ARB diff lock and compressor
Interior winch and diff lock controls
Spot lights front & rear
Aluminium rear floor (under which is storage for hi-lift, shovels, sledge hammer, ground anchors, snatch blocks, shackles, tools, ropes, strops, kinetic, spares etc)
Dog Guard
Fire extinguisher
2 x optima batteries (24v)
1 x spiral cell battery (12v)
Simex jungle trekkers on silver modulars (5x) spare interior mounted
Axle breathers
Diff guards
Recent new diesel tank & tank guard
New front wing
2" plus Old Man Emu suspension
Rock slider sills
Triangular side windows behind front seats
K&N air filter and boosted fuel pump

There is probably lots more that should be added, but thats the gist (jist ?) of it.

The vehicle is in a "well used" condition. By which I mean the body work is the oppisite of show room condition, having hugged and kissed most trees in most local forests. But she has never been on her back or side and runs sweetly (sweet engine & gear box). Has done 110k miles and had a full LRSH until about 95,000. The chassis has some welded patches on the rear quarter and the rear cross member is getting a bit tied. But got through its MOT without problems. One new front wing and the other looks like it did 3 rounds with Mike Tyson and lost. Rear tub cappings are rusted quite badly.

What this vehicle needs is someone with the time needed to give her some "love 'n attention" and in return she will give you many thrills off road. To build this muther from scratch (using a decent 300tdi vehicle) would probably cost about £15k and take 250 hours. She is yours for offers over £4k. And yes you can give her a test drive at Tong on 30th September (but if you want to take her into that bloody awful bottomless lake with the mud from hell in it, I'll need a deposit !).

A taste of what she gets up to can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoqjHmqHl8E
courtesy of Chesters at Weardale a few months ago. And that slope is a lot steeper than it appears !

That would be a hell of a good road trip. Would need to follow Ewan and Charlie's example and go "the Long Way Around". Mind you, if there ws ever a vehicle built for that trip, it would be this mutha :

Smarticus, have you tried an ad over on the Freelander2 forums? A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

TDv8 HSE - Stornoway Grey with ebony and straight grain walnut wood-a-like interior with towpack, Tasmods. The best car I have ever owned
Now departed - Giverny Green TDv6SE with Aspen and Parchment interior - nearly the best car I have ever owned
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

Probably S! Hope it all works out OK, just don't let it go until the money has been paid into the bank (take him there with you!) - there have been a lot of scams with overseas buyers on eBay. Seems odd that somebody who lives in a country where they drive "on the wrong side of the road" would want a RHD Defender - most of my Ukrainian officers want to buy them too but it is illegal to own a RHD car in Ukraine if you are resident there. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tim, why actually pay the money into the bank ? Is that in case it is forged cash - in which case if the bank accepts it then am I in the clear ? I can hopefully spot forged notes myself (water marks, foil strip, paper quality etc) but if I missed it and the bank teller missed it as well, is there no recourse to me afterwards if the bank later finds out it is duff money ?

You got me worried now as he is due to arrive on Easyjet into Newcastle on Friday evening and then is setting off in her Saturday morning ! RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
