TDV6 power lacking when accelerate

hi all, i have got the rrs back in late 2005 the first generation one, i had the problem of the power loss when you are approching a round about and you had to slow down to about 20k/h then you try to accelerate to go thourgh teh round about but only after 3 seconds then you have a response from the vehicle which sometimes you end up in the middle of the round about with car coming at you. been to dealer but they said becasue it is a diesel that the reaction was not as good as the petrol v8 which was f Censored king bullsh Censored t. i had talk to other mechanic which he suggest me to have the programme upgraded as well as check up the EGR and somehow it seems the wheel alignment is no good but tried many times to ajust the wheel alignment but end up the same problem, its something at the wheels i think but dealer wont tell you whats wrong, only to carry out wheel alignment for you and said its ok. i am getting very frustrated at this vehicle but i think if someone knows how to fix it ( i think they are fixible, it shouldnt be a defect of the vehicle ) should have all the small problems fixed. anyone have same problems before please let me know what you have done to overcome the problems?. many thanks.
ps. i have been to southside's service but it was ordinary, and i have also been to bruce lyntton down the coast which they were very helpful - you wont see a blank face when you start asking some very technical questions even yourself dont half understand (sometimes you will get a blank face in return... from other dealer)

The works to fix that diesel "delay" were all part of the 2006 VEP if I remember. I'm surprised that this hasn't been done on your vehicle already. If the previous owner didn't have it done (it was free), then you'd have thought the dealer would have done it as part of the pre-delivery work when they sold it on to you.

I believe so, if it wasn't the VEP there's definitely a LR fix for it.

HI
I test drove a tdv6 sep 07 build...so it would have been MY08, and it still had this lag effect??
Press the go pedal and its says "What you looking at???" and then an appreciable delay later it says ok...you can have some...

I also test drive a tdv8 it definitely has more go...and definitely less delay..but possibly still a little of it...

I think other tdv6 drivers might say there is a trick to accelerating from dead stop or very slow....i think it is to squeeze the trigger not pull??? anyone?

Anyways my 5 month wait is nearly over...beast is due next month...(i hope)

Yep pretty sure this is the built-in emissions gear doing its stuff, there are two EGR valves that can be blanked off and a single butterfly valve that can have its plate removed to stop it strangling the engine on the changeover from overrun to power. Cheers

Yep - but the TDV6 has a special turbo lag inducing butterfly valve in the air inlet as part of the emissions system, it is possible to blank off the EGR valves and remove this butterfly valve. I've done it and turbo lag is noticably reduced. Cheers

Any chance of any diagrams/pictures of where these are and what they look like???? or is it easier than it sounds. Also, come service/mot time, will there be any nasty suprises from the service departments, etc.

Pictures etc here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic19800.html

Done properly the mods are very nearly invisible without specifically stripping the pipe connections etc - the UK MOT test isn't expected to be a problem as it is a very basic test - but carry out the mods at your own risk if you choose to do so. Cheers
