Service interval different in Australia?

Hi,
I have noticed from some other posts that the service interval is 20,000km(15,000mls) or 12 months. Why is it 12,000kms or 6 months in australia?
cheers,
Anthony

Some excuse about harsher climates Whistle and whilst some of us who take ours off road can maybe see the sense, the majority that drive between North Shore , Northern Beaches and the CBD in Sydney, or even between the main cities once in a while may be somewhat mystified Confused

Managed to get the corporate package when i bought it, all servicing is free for 3 years, delivery covered etc Thumbs Up Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

I mainly ask because I got ripped off on the first service for wiper blades (should have been warranty) and I am pretty sure they charged me for the amount of oil that the SC version uses at an exorbitant cost per liter. I winged to Land rover Australia about the wiper blades and at least the next service is free! (labour only).

Hmmm..

There's another Maintenance Check Sheet for the RRS classified under " All Models Ardous".
This recommends service intervals of 3 months / 6,000 km.
Renew engine oil and filter every 3 months / 6,000 km !

Could this be for the 'harsher climates' ? Whistle Malaysia Boleh!

First service

i was wondering the same today when the service indicator came on near 3000km's since new and inside 6 months.

Spoke to a few dealers service and one said yes - time to service $650-700, another said wait till 6 mths or 12,000kms with roughly the same cost. A third was the same but only circa $350 for the same service.

Glad I did not book in with dealer number 1. Anyone else had the same advice given for a diesel?

Don't mind keeping it serviced or being taken for a ride either!

When I collected my new TDV6 in Oct 2007 it had a service sticker on the inside of the windscreen stating service was due at 6 months or 12,000 km's - whichever was first. Haven't done the 12,000, km's so will be booking it in for it's first service next month.

This matches what the dealer told me during the purchase process. I also have free servicing for 3 years so shouldn't need to worry about any outlay apart from any 'wear and tear' items!

It is interesting to see consistency in the dealerships. The sticker in my window from when I collected mine is six months or 10,000Km. I have run over that slightly as the dealers can't get the car in for service for three weeks. I was interested to note that nothing came up on the dash to indicate a service was required once I had hit 10,000Km. Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

Just booked in my first service for the 4th April, and the chap asked me "is that the 12,000km service you need"

I only have 4,000 km's on the clock but sounds like the 6 monthly is the same as the 12,000 km service. I had the same scenerio on my previous car which was a HSV. I just don't do enough km's to trigger the service intervals before the 6 month window arrives.
