I presume Inverness police have cleared up all of their other crimes in the region, such as: theft of property, muggings, drink driving, dangerous driving, criminal damage etc. plus all the associated paperwork and are now bored.

The noise figures quoted are not outrageous and seem to be under the stringent limits required by race circuits for track days. Standard Porsche 911's frequent fail these. Police persecuting motorists like this is only going to lose them further good will from the public. The flat four exhaust noise an Impreza makes, is I think, being picked on here. Good on the guy for challenging the prosecution. Bow down 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Shocked

If he thinks his exhaust is loud - he ought to listen to some of the motorbikes that pass my house at the weekend when enroute to Mallory Park ........... now that ought to be illegal Evil or Very Mad

As my parents often say.... "this place is going to the dogs".... How the Police can justify spending their supposedly stretched resources on something like this I don't know. Hound us all off the road to go and live in communes why don't you? As much as I wouldn't want to live next to a racetrack or anything, I do like the sound of a good exhaust - not some noddy Corsa with a baked bean tin welded onto the back, but something with class. I was overtaken yesterday on the way down to Chichester by a Roush Mustang, which I have to say made a stunning noise Thumbs Up

Shocked I live north of Inverness had a MY03 STi with the Prodrive upgrade, now that has a diffrent downpipe and exhaust system than the standard STi also it has a diffrent intake system and remapped ECU, it makes quite a bit more noise too than the standard car. My MG ZT260 is LOUD but the Scooby was a lot louder when you pressed the pedal, I've measured 90+db inside the car at 55mph wide open throttle (in the MG not the scooby)
Hope they dont pass this practice further up north.....
Edit: Just read this bit...

Quote:
Recently Subaru UK paid the fine for somone who was running an Impreza in Scotland with a Prodrive Performance Pack because of this, although they had tested the exhasut as complying with the type approval requirements, it was still modified and noisier than standard, so they had to homologate the PPP options such that it became a new derivative to make it legal....bit of background here http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general...al-exhaust.html
