New Member-RR Sport Aerial and Aftermarket Headunit

Hi, I am new to this site- Nice site and very Interesting.
Could someone help me with a problem I have since I have fitted an aftermarket headunit to my RRS.
I have tried to connect the aerial but cannot seem to get any radio reception. I think the RRS has an Amp/booster but not sure if it does how to get it working.
I tried an old aerial I had to make sure it was not the headunit and that works fine.
Would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks- Sandy

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

Hi Sandy - Welcome to the site.

The amp is fitted under the drivers (RH) seat. I'm not sure about ariel connections but this would be the obvious place to start.

Good luck and keep us informed. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Thank you TB for your very quick reponse.
I have had a look at the amp under the seat but can't work out what goes where. When I connected the new headunit I disconnected all the RRS wires and re-wired all the speakers and power.
I think the orginal headunit had a "rem" conncetion to activate the aerial but do not know where to start.
I have asked my local dealer but no joy.

If anyone else has had a simlar problem I would be very interested to know.

My last resort is to mount a new aerial on the roof and connect directly. I don't raelly want to do this since I will have to remove headlining etc.
Thank agin for your support

Would strongly recomend Prestige, for what its worth

They did a lot of work on my 996 targa (which is in there gallery somewhere). Workmanship second to none and incredibly pleased with all they did

Thanks again for recommending Prestige.
I spoke to Chris one on the tech guys but he said they have never fitted an aftermarket system in a RRS. They have used the exsiting headunit and added various componets to it.
I should have spoken to him b4 I started- O-hum....

I think I am back at square one. Need another re-think this weekend. It looks like I will have to remove the headlining to fit a new aerial- Not looking forward to that since I think I will end up damaging something.

Sandy, have a look at this. You will find other issues such as control of the message centre (resetting fuel consumption, changing the clock etc) when you replace the Headunit. It can be done but takes time.

Thanks again.
Bobby do you have the references to the connectors on the amp- I am sure one or two of the wires will be the "rem" cable of the aerial.
Fingers crossed.

Stephen thanks of all the detailed info. When you put your headunit in did your exsiting audio aerial still work or are u using the T.V aerial to also work the radio?

One of my options is to have freeview T.V and DAB digital radio- Only problem is I won't be able to pick up traffic info.

Cheers- Sandy

Sandy, the existing antenna is used for AM/FM. The TV antennas (one on-glass and the one on the roof) feed directly into the TV tuner box which is mounted in place of the HK amp under the drivers seat.

Have fun.

Thanks again for all you help Bobby and Stephen.

Just to let you know I sorted the problem today.

Bobby's link to the radio amp was a just what I needed. Just added a "rem" cable after dropping the head lining and job done.

Thanks again- Sandy
