How does the paint resist to offroading? Will it get scratched from the first thing touching it or did LR foresee this?

Simply avoided overhanging plants. Seriously - I think it's no better or no worse than any other paint. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

So long as you avoid thorny bushes and low hanging pine trees you will be OK, but don't expect to come off the track unscathed - you WILL get scratches even if they are very fine. If it is very muddy then hose all the car off really well before you even think about detergent and sponges as mud can do really nasty deep scratches if you don't rinse it all off. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

my 19" alloys were ruined during my Salisbury plains experience - they are now used purely for off road

argh it's a funny dilema, you have a superb car for offroading but you're scared to get scratches on it due to it's luxury appearance

yours is Java which will show every little scratch and ding But at least you can say to yourself that you enjoyed putting the scratches there. In my case, I've never scratched or dented any part of my RRS from going offroad - as long as you take your time and be sensible you will be fine - its most definetely worth it. The problem with my wheels was due to the fact about 16 LR's had just gone through the tracks before we got there - this meant the wheels ruts had been deepened and I really had no choice as that was the only way to go, plus the fact I tried to steer while in the ruts (bad idea) as I was a novice.

We went for a day offroading and you know what .... no scratches

Oh yes we loved it.

It was still a very soft offroading trip, just enough to get to know the RRS. And we did learn alot, like no DSC when you're stuck in the mud

thats what its all about - no need to go silly and get stuck and damage the RRS - its great just to get off road imo. If you want anything more serious, then buy 2nd hand Def

Since we got back I've been browsing some 2nd hand sites for a Defender If we want to go on with the offroading then we'll most probably pick one up.
