BUGS ON BRAND NEW TDV8

Hi guys..

I am new RRS TDV8 HSE owner and a new forum member. So, having a car for five days and noted a few bugs:

1. Radio/computer - After starting the car ( I always wait for cca. 6 sec to upload computer ) there was something wrong with the radio, the sound was interrupted every second (music, interruption, music, interr….) and on the screen was frozen LR screen template. After turning engine off, key out, locking and unlocking it, key in, contact, waiting 10 sec, starting the engine it worked !!! This happened twice in 5 days!?

2. Cruise control – on my first long trip I set the cruise control on 140 km/h at the motorway. Everything ran perfectly until going uphill when car started to decelerate slightly down to 120 km/h (on an uphill distance of 2km).. Passing the hill top and going downhill started to accelerate back to 140 km/h. Same story on the next uphill. Laughing Laughing

Sounds familiar??? RRS TDV8 HSE

Welcome to the forums NastyDuck.

Sorry I cannot help on the Satnav/Radio problem.

With the ACC - if I run on the country roads round home on ACC there are some corners that seem to confuse it
and it will slow the car even though there isn't another car in range of the radar. Some of these bends have safety barriers and I suspect that the ACC is picking up stray signals bouncing off the barrier which confuses the computer. This was very graphically demonstrated by Mercedes when they attempted to demonstrate their ACC in a lab and ended up smashing up something like 5 S class cars before they gave up. Their answer for demo-ing the system was to put a plank of wood on the ground and telling the driver that when he passed it he had to apply the brakes as hard as possible, over-riding the cruise control! The ACC signals were bouncing around inside the test facility confusing the computer.
Your steep hill may also be doing the same thing.

I have learned the safety value of the ACC as well in the recent very dense freezing fog we had here just before Christmas - driving along the long main trunk road in visibility of about 100ft with the cruise set at about 40 and the forward alert distance ahead set to maximum the yellow light on the dash came on and then the brakes started to apply automatically................................... but I couldn't see anything in the mist. I reduced the range down to minimum and the car eventually slowed down to 20mph and I had to disengage the cruise. Then I saw what the ACC had detected - an unlighted tractor and trailer doing 15 mph in the fog! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

It's good to know it does work some of the time. That Merc demo was a right balls up Laughing Footage of it is on Youtube I think.

Your TDv8 has conventional cruise control and not the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)? No Forward Alert? Must be something market specific for your area as TDV8's in this part of Europe get adaptive cruise as standard.
If you look in the front air intake in the front bumper do you not have a black box on the front passenger side? A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

I had the issue also with the music and it appeared to be caused by the phone I had paired over Bluetooth.

Remove the pairing by deleting the car from your phone and turn of the car, lock it, wait 60s, and unlock it.

60s is for the Bluetooth in the car to fully shutdown.

Hope it helps. 08.5 RRS TDV6 HSE Java Black/Alpaga - Cold Climate Pack - Privacy Glass - Bluetooth - Sunroof - 20" wheels - Rubber Floor mats.

...Tim in Scotland - yes, i have just CC not ACC. TDV8 is not equipped, as standard, with it at our market.

...Phantom - have no car phone Very Happy had in my previous car but not used often, so, not missing it

Probably have everything else possible.. ok, most of it Very Happy ... It is a pity not having an ACC.

Just for info ... The official LR dealer had it in stock so I bought the car as it was/is... RRS TDV8 HSE

Also, was the hill so steep that 140kph would be unachievable even with the cruise off and driving it normally? TDV8 HSE in Java/Ebony with Zebrano Wood, RSE, Hybrid TV, and a few other bells and whistles.

Finally, just got my car...

... they found nothing (radio, CC). But, my brother has the same problem with CC on TDV6 06". Funny that he noted that after my warning and after almost two years driving it. So guys pay attention while driving uphill with CC on and if you find anything unusual please report..? Cheers RRS TDV8 HSE

I'd love to see a main road where the TDv8 couldn't manage 140kph. Squillions of torque and this mutha simply flattens hills as if gravity were a mere technicality Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
