Vent Removal....No Force Needed

WARNING
Follow this entirely at your own risk!

THE VEHICLE
RRS TD V6 (MY late 2006 ) Australian Spec. Paint is 4 months old

TOOL
I used a very thin plastic or nylon spatula (that is sold in hardware stores) for applying top finishing coats on plasterboard joints.
I found that this tool did absolutely no damage to my paint when used gently and always moved only nearly parallel to the panel surface.
REMEMBER It is not a lever. It is only needed to depress the central tag in the vent clips.

THE SPATULA

EDGE OF THE SPATULA

THE VENT
To release the vent you need to release the 2 clips on the lower edge of the vent first 'A' then 'B'
The top clips will release by themselves later

detail of how the clips work (to release you need to depress only the central tag of the clip )

METHOD
Removal

Slide the tool nearly parallel to & between the fender panel and the lower rear outer edge of the vent as shown

Gently move the tool vertically up (ie. slide it further between the components)DO NOT USE AS A LEVER
A click will be heard (this is the clip releasing ) Gently hold the vent slightly out to stop the just released clip re engaging
Repeat the process with the forward clip

The whole vent can now be withdrawn with a gentle vertically downward motion.

Fitting
No tools needed
First engage the two top vent clips accurately in the slots in the fender panel.
Then simply gently push the lower edge of the vent inwards until the two bottom clips engage.
Check that the vent is secure.
Hope this is useful Very Happy

Sure beats my "brute-force & ignorance" method that broke the tags off TWO SETS (replaced original HSE for S/C, then S/C for colour-coded pair). You'd have thought I'd learn from my first mistake.., but no! Thud Banging Head
