EX-X5 - there is a difference in pushing your vehicle to test the extremes and doing what you know the vehicle can do. Very few owners of a £45k car would risked serious damage, but that doesn't mean they are not doing proper offroading. There is a certain pleasure giving 2 fingers to people who knock RRS owners for not using them offroad. I've been to events where little Suzukis run around at great speed and get damaged - fun yes but also dangerous. I would like to be known as a driver who knows his cars capabilities and will push it but not cross the line. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

personally I'm not going to go and throw my RRS around to break it (dents etc) however some do come close to this (namely VA) - for any more serious stuff then you really need a less expensive tool - this I can agree

Could not agreed more Kaine,

Kaine - no! I didnt mean to provoke anyone. I would never 'state' anything, I really am not such a wonker(!) Sorry about the way I phrased my post. For the record that was simply an opinion

VA - fair play, your comments there seem well informed, I see ur point and agree with you.

Goes back to my post about the GS dakar and the CRF450. Yes, you can have fun on the former (Without going into detail about what I do, I was recently on a shoot where i was asked to ride the dakar at a sand track - good fun!,.... but (to me at least) this is NOT a proper 'weapon'. Where a CRF can rip your arms off under acceleration, clear huge doubles, rail axle deep rutted turns and all the rest.

I would NOT doubt that the RRS has off road pedigree, and IS capable off road. Just seems sometimes people maybe get a little carried away thinking their behind the wheel of some fire breathing Bowler type vehicle. You're NOT guys! You are driving a very refined, luxurious, smooth riding, stylish, £50k 4x4 THAT IS ALSO capable of 'light' off road work (practically - given we all agree nobody want to bend one of these things!) Thumbs Up

Fair play to you boys that take the cars off road but i didn't buy my RRS for that and can't spend the sort of moneys to play in the mud

What i would like to do if a had the space for another toy. I'd tow a defender in the RRS in some luxurie to some where have a play the go home with the Defer on the back Very Happy RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

What's wrong with taking your RRS offroad, it was designed to be taken there from day one. Mine has and so did my FFRR TD6 before it and the Freelander before that. I also have a Defender that I don't mind bashing a bit, that was why I bought it in the first place. You don't have to take your RRS into stupid places and risk it, there are plenty of offroad sites that have beginners routes if you "just want to see what she'll do" in the dirt. Smarticus and myself took a group of D3 owners on an offroading weekend in the North East in June, they had a great time, did some quite amazing things in their cars (one of which was only a couple of weeks old!) that they thought they would never ever do and nobody did any damage except me when I reversed rather rapidly into a dry stane dyke and bent the rear nearside quarter of my Defender.................. Evil or Very Mad A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

TDv8 HSE - Stornoway Grey with ebony and straight grain walnut wood-a-like interior with towpack, Tasmods. The best car I have ever owned
Now departed - Giverny Green TDv6SE with Aspen and Parchment interior - nearly the best car I have ever owned
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road
