What are cars for.....

From time to time I have looked onto this site and have also ventured opinions and answered questions. Just wanted to add a reality check really:

I have bought an RRS and it is a nice car. The key thing to remember is, its a car.....

There are lots of comments about bits and bobs going wrong, well - its complicated. Much of the complication is a result of its ability to go offroad at the press of a button. Neat, but complicated.

Someone even said it was claustrophopic, are you sure?

Its heavy (lots of stuff for offroading), so it will use a lot of fuel (ref: "how much does it do to a gallon).

There are a lot of comments about reliability, but not a lot of thought. A Ford Focus is fairly simple and, as a result, SHOULD be more reliable. It is just statistics.

What I am really saying is "If you like it, buy one, but for goodness sake enjoy it. It will depreciate, it will consume fuel, it is heavy, it is big, it will require maintaining, but it beats the hell out of going to Scotland (I am a southerner) in a Fiat Panda."

cars are about driving, not writing. Mine has 3,000+ since June, I haven't written much (sorry) but I have driven much (not sorry).

All the best

Peter

Very Happy

Peter, I like what you said. I'm most likely going to buy a RRS HSE.

But the competition is not a Ford Focus. You don't see "apologetic" posts about the Lexus RX 330, which has plenty of hgh-tech electronics and even a rear camera display when in reverse.

And while the X5, ML and Cayenne have lots of problems, they still outrank LR in reliability. For a vehicle this expensive, it's not unfair to complain about the number of little things that make the LR less reliable than other SUVs.

All things considered, though, I think the style and features of the RRS have won me over, and I live in a warm suburban area and do not plan to spend much time off road (at least not intentionally) Smile .
