You actually get to go out in the same car - (so in my case a RRS 4.4 as they do not run a S/C unfortunately ) all afternoon with an instructor who shows you how to really offroad and what the cars capable of Very Happy

Well - what a great day out Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Went to Eastnor Castle - Home of the LR experience centres. Arrived at 8.45am having left home at 7.15am. Straight in and offered coffee Smile 9.00am a quick talk on basics/offroading/safety. - then introduced to my instructor for the day - KEN , a very experienced and devoted one at that. He apparently comes up from Salisbury Plain every day ( 1.5 hrs ) Shocked

By 10.00 am we were out offroad . Ken drove & took me round a few tracks and showed me a few things re offroad techniques etc - a few safety rules and I was in the driving seat Very Happy . AWSOME I was in the sport [ 4.4 ] on my own all day [ with Ken ] yet didnt pay for sole occupancy - so very lucky. We had a quick stop for lunch then back out again. Lovely wet day so plenty of deep water Very Happy ........ I had approx 4 - 5 hrs behind the wheel & must say it was a truly fantastic experience.

Ther is NO way I would take my own car round this course - 1st of all the 20" alloys would not last 5 minutes & you do go through some tight spots where trees/bushes etc could quite easily scruff your paint work. But as its not your car - doesnt matter Wink I was the only RRS out all day, it was fairly quiet only a Freelander and 2 Defenders out ( that I saw )

HOWEVER

All day I kept coming accrss a dark blue RR that was being driven by engineers from LR ........... I had been talking to Ken and mentioned the forthcoming TDV8 ....... his response was to point me towards this dark blue RR. Without saying too much ( he couldnt ) he thinks its supurb. We later pulled along side as instucted by Ken ( he knew the engineer ) this was to let me hear the engine - it sounded OK but after further chat we not too sure - but think its not going to make the Sport initially Confused

I didnt take many pics Embarassed we were out offraoding all day & didnt stop or get out of the car. We finished about 4pm. I only have a few shots of the centre which I will post later.

Over all - BRILLIANT - if you have a VOUCHER then use it, it really is a great day out and woth upgrading to the full day. At the end of the day I was also given a certificate to confirm I had completed LEVEL 1 Very Happy

My car is absolutely filthy & looks like it had been used for the experience so I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend Crying or Very sad

Glad you enjoyed it Martin. Eastnor is used by LR as a proving ground (amongst lots of other LR events too). I've been there twice for LREs and both times there was something going on that you might not normally get to see... it's like spending time at Millbrook, you'll always see something out of the ordinary.

When you say you weren't sure about the sound of the DV8 - you mean it didn't sound as good as you might hope? Question

Sounds like a cracking day out, I might go for Eastnor too as I have read so much about it over the years.

Would also be great to see some under cover LR cars, and you know me, I'd have some pics for everyone at the end of the day too! Wink L319 D4 HSE

They've got a new facility by the looks of things. Wasn't like that when I went last (which was over a year ago now).
