2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Adriatic Blue
Swinging weights?

Hello All,

Collected my 07 plated RR HSE Sport last week and this weekend I fitted the tow pack wiring looms. Whilst underneath the rear of the vehicle, I noticed that just in front of the rear bumper and fitted over both chassis rails are two large shaped-to-fit lumps of metal which I can swing through a short arc.

What are these for please?

Badco

Poor man, he has had the estate agents around this morning and will be for sale by this afternoon Whistle

The weights are Dynamic weights. They are mounted on rubber bushes and absorb vibrations. Part of the reason the RRS and D3 are so smooth.

Thank you all for your replies, and I am now reassured that something has not come loose on the chassis. FAO Envoy, 2.7 V6. Thumbs Up

One of the aspects of driving the Sport I didn't enjoy was that at low speeds going over kerbs or speed bumps these weights would rattle about and make an annoying 'not a £60K car type noise'.

I don't get that in the FRRR Very Happy L319 D4 HSE

I had a problem with those weights clanging against the Larini exhaust pipes after about 12K miles or so. Took it down to the local Kwikfit and with a bit of pushing and pulling on the pipes problem was solved. Though it was scary watching them do it.
Glad I was there though as they were wondering whether to remove the weights Big Cry TDV6 - gone
