Blinker Relay... Help please!

Does anybody know where the blinker relay is located in the RRS? I looked in the fuse panel behind the glovebox and found no relays... I also looked under the steering wheel panel (under the footwell) and could not locate it either....

Does anybody also happen to know if the relay is a 5-pin, or 3-pin?

thanks in advance!

I suspect there isn't an actual relay. The sound you hear when using the "blinkers" isn't a relay, it's a digital sound.
The sound is suppressed if the navigation or telephone cuts in.

Well, looked under the hood (bonnet for you uk folks!) and looked at the fuse box, no signs of a relay for the blinkers... there were plenty of relays there for other things, but no blinkers.... any other ideas?

PaulB, the sound IS coming from the dash, but there has to be a relay to make the blinkers work.. .right???

PS. to recap, I have checked behind the glovebox, under the bonnet, and under the steering wheel...

Any help is appreciated!

I think the indicators are probably driven by a body control ECU instead of a flasher relay - GTR will tell you for sure Wink Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

As suspected, it's electronically controlled internally to the Central Junction Box. The indicator switch and hazard switch only provide switched earth signals to it Sad Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

As I said, its all digital. The sound you hear, which would normally be the relay switching, is actually a digitised "impersonation" of the relay.

Why did you want to get at the relay ?

Thanks for the information guys.... Yes Vesurover, I started experimenting with LED's and wanted to replace the relay with a heavy duty electronic one... but looks like I am out of luck and have to go with the resistor(s) alternative instead....

will update with pics when I am finished with my lights.

Martin, thanks for looking up the blinkers on the GTR site...

I am not quite ready to give up yet... there has to be a blinker module in our vehicles somewhere that handle the blinking, and different loads for our blinkers though, right? WOuld the GTR site show where this module might be? any help would be appreciated...

PS. on a side note, I have been successful at modding my front headlights and removing the amber portion of the front... so now, I am just finishing up some LED replacements to make everything more "modernized"

heres a preview... I will post step by step instructions on this once I am done as I am documenting all my steps!
