Hi
This is my first post so hope it makes sense.
I am looking to purchase a used sport in the next few months and would appreciate any advice, will have to buy a diesel model or it will never leave the driveway!
I also have a vehicle to sell but I am not sure how to advertise on this site so again any pointers would be very helpful.

Adrian - welcome. It's a question of money, if you have lots buy it from a dealer if you have a limited budget go to an auction. What to look out for? Well as any sport you will buy will be covered by warranty there shouldn't be a problem with any purchase except obviously stolen, written off cars but you can check these. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Thanks.
Budget would be 30-35k but depends on sale of other vehicle and if my personal injury solicitor is any good! Big Cry
Will check out the auctions as I think that may be where the possible best buy may be.

You will be able to get a fully loaded TDV6 HSE on an 05 maybe a higher mileage 55 plate for that. Best of luck. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The oldest sports you will find will be 2 years old so you are going to have to budget quite a lot anyway, as VA says all the usual checks but also look underneath (you would be not be surprised that so folks do take their sports offroad as it is very competent in the rough stuff) If the car is on a non franchised LR trader's forecourt take the VIN number from the bottom left side of the front screen and go to a Land Rover dealer and ask them to check it's service and repair history in the LR system as they should all still be on the LR record system. If it doesn't have an LR service history (LR isn't the cheapest place to service a car!) walk away, there are loads of them out there.
RRS is a very complicated car - it is often worth paying that bit extra to buy an approved used car from a franchised dealer - they will often have the best cars anyway. The car comes with a 3 year warranty from LR so you should get at least 12 months remaining too, and if you buy from a dealer you can extend that - my 11 year old 90 is still covered for major mechanical disasters by a Land Rover extended warranty 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Welcome Adrian...

If it was I'd be putting my money with a dealer; auctions can be very risky places to buy expensive cars. You could give member Kam (kam100) a shout via PM or email - he is a forum sponsor and specialises in car sourcing/finance and may be able to find you an excellent example at a suitable price.

What do you have to sell? Very Happy

Thanks for the shout out Shmoogle.
Have got a diesel HSE offered today.. a good friend of ours on this forum in fact!! let me know if you want the details.

You'd get a good car buying private (price wise..) dealers cars are still quite pricey..
Get something with good spate of warranty left too..

If i can help in any way, drop me a message..
Cheers.
Kam.
