Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) System

Dear All,

I read under the TECHNICAL forum that some RRS models come equiped with a TPM.

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10024/TPMS.pdf

Mine obviously doesn't Sad

Is it possible to replace the tyre valves with ones that have the "sensor/RF transmmiter"?
Do you know the PART NUMBERS?

Would that activate the TPM monitor in the car, or it is way more complicated than that?

I will be amazed if it is as simple as that, if the car doesnt have the sensors then surely it wont have the TPM

find someone who has them fitted and borrow one and try it,it may just save you some money Thumbs Up some of my Previous cars

I don't think the TPMS system can be retro fitted. The above link is only for the "transmitor" valve stems, what you don't get is the receiver and all of the electronic gismo's that are fitted into the car during the assembly process. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Do you need to have the factory fitted system? Because there are commercially available systems available from good auto stores and over the 'net like this one http://www.tyresave.co.uk/smartire.html
Granted it's not as nice as the LR system but it is at least something like what you are looking for. I you type Tyre Pressure Monitoting Systems into Google you will get a load of hits. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks Tay_pt for the link. I am definitely still inetersted in the TPM for my LRS.
However, I checked the various models at the dealer and the ones that I frequently
see on the streets of Doha and almost all of the LRS models (HSE and S/C) come
without the TPM pre-installed. (I could tell by examining the tyre valve: metal or rubber).
It is most likely a dealer configuration.

I also noticed that when I put the key in the ignition, many of the warning icons
show on the display expect the TPM warning (which should be located inside the
Fuel gauge cluster to the right of the "Empty Tank Warning Led).

Maybe this means that the TPM receiver is not installed, and hence investing in TPM sensors
without having the built-in receiver is not a smart idea.

Is there a way we can verify that the TPM receiver is actually fitted?

(Maybe the Diagnostic Menus holds such information)

I considered these, but decided my old fashioned method was probably more reliable. TDV6 - gone
